I think Brian Armstrong has rather overstepped the mark in his criticism of SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw. Coinbase CEO Says SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw, Is ‘Failure’ (U Today). There’s a fascinating denouement looming this year and clearly COIN are throwing as much animus into the argument as possible in the hope of seeing Commissioner Crenshaw refused reconfirmation. I cannot recall a Commissioner being refused a second term - albeit what do I know? However, it strikes me as very very dangerous behaviour by COIN management in terms of what one might term overly exuberant interventionism… and indeed the broader rather high handed belief of the crypto bros at large that they can influence the government: Crypto Industry Frustrated Over Possibility Of SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw’s Renomination (CryptoSlate).
Meanwhile, Coinbase Responds To Account Restriction 'FUD': 'We're Not Ignoring You' (The Block), so again their day to day compliance machine appears to have yet more teething troubles.

For all the talk of a Bitcoin ascendancy, there are as many good reasons to see the crypto bros as having overstepped their mark of influence. In any case, Bitcoin is freely acceptable in El Salvador but on a voluntary basis - it is de facto not the legal tender of the nation going forward. The international lenders have seen to that.
