Cryptokiddies Rejoice!
All hail, the King of Liberland! As if crypto wasn’t already struggling with a reputation as a silly boy’s club of juveniles who at least get tried as adults in the justice system, they have of course their own little marchland they reckon is a country but is really a strand of riverbank between Serbia and Croatia about the same size as the territory enjoyed by Hammy Hamster in his heyday (Tales Of The Riverbank / Global TV Hammy Hamster's Adventures On The Riverbank). In reality, Liberland is a stunning 2.7 square kms which is on par with the Principality of Monaco or indeed the world’s largest fresh flower market in Amsterdam which I visited last week.
Anyway, Justin Sun of Tron fame is now acting PM after some form of distributed vote: A Crypto King Is Now The Prime Minister Of A Tiny Country (Quartz) / Justin Sun Elected Prime Minister Of Liberland Micronation (Cointelegraph).
While a big fan of micronations as an eccentric spectacle - yes I have visited them as far afield as the Principality of Seborga amongst others - the realpolitik is it’s a kind of cranky person’s game and right now surely crypto needs respectability not to be seen playing castle fantasy games…particularly not when e.g. “EI 2928: Tron Argues SEC ‘Not A Worldwide Regulator’ And Lawsuit Goes ‘Too Far’ “ is a recent story in our archives.
Meanwhile. SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda: Our Agenda Is Directed By Gensler Is a total truism from Fox Business video as, yes, that’s Te chairman’s Job. It seems most worrying that this may be a recent realisation by the GOP Commissioner. At the same time, when he is also quoted as SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda Slams Agency’s Crypto Policy As A ‘Disaster’ (Cointelegraph) it’s clear he fancies a job in crypto after his term ends… er, I mean he obviously desires a better regulated… hold on, to be fair to Gazza G he has coherently held the line in most cases against the idiocy of crypto exceptionalism, n’est-ce pas? Thus in outing himself as a puppet of GG in many ways, one might argue Comm Uyeda has shown his own impotence in office - he certainly hasn’t made a big splash during his term that we can recall.
