Code Isn’t Law (& Other Crackdowns)
Today’s Bitcarnage is a tale of crackdowns in three parts. First up the Binance part which involves several issues. Canadians seek to sue Binance for infringing securities law (where have we heard that before?) Lochan. v. Binance Holdings Limited, 2024 ONSC 2302 (CanLII) / Binance Sued In Canada For Securities Law Violations (CoinTelegraph). The accusation is Binance sold crypto derivatives products in violation of both the Ontario Securities Act (OSA) and federal law: “The lawsuit seeks damages and rescission of unlawful derivatives trades.” The case could impact tens of thousands of Canadian Binance customers…
